Location: Chertoriya village, Kitsman district

Chertoriya village (Kitsman district) is famous for Ivan Mykolaychuk, an outstanding Ukrainian moviemaker who was born here. Some of his most famous works are "The Dream” (where Mykolaychuk starred Taras Shevchenko) and "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors”. Mykolaychuk starred in 23 films, also he wrote scripts and music and acted as movie director.

The museum is arranged in Mykolaychuk’s house located in outskirts of Chertoriya. The house has only two rooms and a small utility room, although for those times it was considered rich. At this manor the Mykolaychuks brought up 10 children.

The house looks almost the same as it looked during Ivan Mykolaychuk’s life, only the roof is covered with slate instead of straw. The house is decorated according to the old Bukovynian tradition, the windows of the wooden house are covered with azure-coloured wide clay stripes. The manor yard has the bust of the actor playing a proud hutsul. The museum attendant is Ivan Mykolaychuk’s elder sister, she carefully maintains actor’s personal things, family heirloom, memories about significant events in his life. The living room has Mykolaychuk’s photos on every wall.

The museum’s welcome book is full of eloquent references and quotations left by visitors from 13 countries of the world.
